Research & Cataloguing, Books & Ephemera Specialist

Don fostered a love of history and antiques at a young age. While committed to a career with the local water utility, he spent decades of involvement with the New England Historical Society, solidifying his fascination with New England furniture, decorative arts and early books.

Retiring in 2014 allowed Don to pursue a lifelong desire to buy and sell early and rare books. When checking out New Haven Auctions, he realized that the owner was his grammar school buddy, Fred Giampietro. It didn’t take Fred long to realize that he needed Don’s expertise on board at eHammer Auctions, where he is now our specialist in rare, early books as well as early ephemera.

Don and his wife, Dana (who he also met in grammar school), have three daughters and several grandchildren. They divide their time between living in Branford and an early cottage in Scotland. He keeps reminding himself that he is technically retired.
